One of those days where everything you have striven for and the one thing you are proud to say you are truly good at, is being threatened, and you envision it all unravel right in front of you.
This photo was captured sitting on the stairs on the way up the trail to one of the 7 mountains surrounding Bergen. The intention was to go for a hike, but things happened that had me cancel those plans. I just couldn’t.

The day arrived with lots of rain in the morning. It was a whirlwind day, and I was on my feet working my butt off from 7 am until about 9 pm. We had to get an early start since Sara had to meet up at school at just after 9 am, and Emma and my husband had to meet up in the city to join the theater group they were walking in the parade with. Sara was walking with her class and the rest of the school, and once again, their school won the “Price for best performance in the flag parade”. They have won it before as well, and it is due to their colorful crowns, and the song they have made and sing as they are walking.
We left the school to parade down to the city (about a 20 minute walk) to join the main parade there. I left Sara with her teacher (they don’t want the grown ups to walk with them, it “covers” the kids up too much), and found my parents on the side of the road, settled into watch the parade. After this, we sprinted to the bus to get home and start preparing the rest of the food we were going to serve for lunch. Sat down an ate briefly, before having to head up to school and be in charge of the serving of food their the rest of the afternoon/evening. We had to wing it and change plans - normally we host it all outside, but due to the rain, we decided to use the gym and school kitchen instead. As usual, some people that was suppose to work didn’t show, and I ended up running back and forth between our two serving spots refilling them with cake, coffee, food as they sold out. I briefly got to watch my girls perform - every year they have a talent show at school, and the ones that grabs the three first spots after voting gets to perform at May 17th. Emma and her group of dancers came in second. And Sara’s dance group also got to perform even though they didn’t place in the top tree.
When we finally got done and had cleaned up for about an hour… we went home to serve up some more stuff for family there.
To say the least, I was BEAT by the end of the day! But, it was also a lot of fun, and most importantly, the girls had a blast. :)

Day 100/366: Walking down memory lane on Flickr.
Some things don’t last forever, but some things do. Like a good song, or a good book, or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times, pressing down on the corners and peering in close, hoping you still recognize the person you see there.
Sarah Dessen
Memories, even your most precious ones, fade surprisingly quickly. But I don’t go along with that. The memories I value most, I don’t ever see them fading.
Kazuo Ishiguro
I spent all day today cleaning up in the attic. Part of that required me to go through lots of old letters, cards, photos and other memorability. It is both emotional going through lots of old memories (not at least the girls’ baby stuff!) and taxing physically to haul all the stuff ariound, but the feeling of accomplishment when it was all done was great.
Can’t believe I have made it to day 100!!

Day 99/366: Fearless on Flickr.
We spent Easter Sunday at the amusement park (or tivoli as we call it) that came to town for Easter. My oldest daughter and her friend ran all over, trying out almost all the rides. It is funny when it comes to Emma, she is the sweetest most empathetic little girl you would ever come across, can be afraid of the dark, won’t watch scary movies, but at same time completely fearless when it comes to all the rides at an amusement park.

Day 98/366: The Climber on Flickr.
My oldest daughters loves to climb trees, and enjoy it every time we are at the cabin.
Day 97/366: Window at cabin at dusk on Flickr.
We spent two days and one night at the cabin this Easter, marking the first trip out there this year. These bottles in the hallway window caught my eyeys as I passed them on my way outside to shoot the dusk.
Day 94/366: Refusing to acknowledge the snow!
The cold weather continues, and it has even been snowing a bit. not unusual for April - it has been known to snow even on my Birthday the 3oth of April several years. Other times, it has been summer temperatures, Typical April! I refuse to dig my winter boots out again though!

Day 93/366: Wind in my hair
I decided to take a walk outside during my lunch today, since it looked so nice out. I thought maybe even though it had snowed earlier, that the sun would warm things up. No such luck! The wind was bone chilling!

Day 91/365: The Walk
The girls and I walked our way to go grocery shopping today, a 5 kilometres walk! Originally it was only I that was going to walk over there, and then the rest of the gang would come after in a car a bit later - I needed to get out moving, since the weather was so nice. Cold, but sunny. But then, both the girls decided they wanted to walk with me! This walk takes us past several places I used to live… one of them being where my husband and I recided the first few years he was living here in Bergen (he is from Iowa, USA). This playground is situated right by where we lived, although it was not there when we lived here. It is a beautiful area down by the harbour in an otherwise very industrial and traffic jammed greater area. We had a few rest stops along the way, and here was the ice cream one, portraied by my oldest daughter! They girls did great and didn’t complain once.
