Day 360/366: Christmas Day Legos
Sara got a big set of LEGO Friends, and spent all Christmas Day putting it together. She LOVES to build LEGOS, and so do I, so we both have fun with it.
(These last pics of my 365 was shot with “broken” equipment. My Nikon D90 and one of it’s two lenses started to go haywire… my favorite lens stopped being able to do auto focus, and the screen on my camera went kaput. So, it was very much like shooting with a film camera these last months of my 366… since I could not see my photos as I shot them, and make the adjustment needed. Neither could I access most of the features in my menu… only the one you can operate from the buttons on the camera body, so needless to say, it was a challenge, and limited the kind of shots I could take. Hopefully I will be able to save up enough money when this is all over, to get it fixed).
We also played a loooong round of Emma’s new monopoly game

Day 353/366: End of the year recital
Today Sara and her class had their Christmas recital. This year they both sang and did a play. Here is Sara as the teacher on the play. she did great! One of the songs they performed was Father Jacob, in 13 different languages, as many different nationalities there are in her class! Pretty impressive that they managed to learn the song in all those languages, and a lot of praise to their teachers who has manage to create such a great work environment and fantastic class where there exist so much diversity. So far, it is all just a blessing, since it teaches them all so much about how people and cultures are different, yet can co-exist and thrive side by side.

Day 322/366: Spooky Birthday Bash
We celebrated Emma and 3 of her classmates birthdays as a class party this day. Halloween themed, even though it was awhile since Halloween was… but it was what the kids wanted. Originally we meant to celebrate Emma’s and her friends day some weeks earlier, but then we got to know that 2 of the boys in their class had planned pretty much the same a few weeks later… and we didn’t want to “steal” their show and figure we’d do it all together. it was a success!!
Here, Emma and her friend Bentine showing of for the camera :)

Today I took Sara to get her teeth checked, to see if she will need braces or any other alterations done. She has a slight crooked bite, but it might be due mostly to her teeth coming in really close to each other, pushing her whole jaw a bit out of place. So, they are going to pull four milk teeth to make some room for her incoming permanent teeth… she does so good at the dentist, not really scared at all, so I think it will be fine… we go back in January for the procedure of pulling the teeth!
Waiting for the bus
Both the girls goes to the dentist at the University clinic, being worked on by students. Kids get free dentist treatment here, and attends the closest public health registered dentist, which in our case is the dentist school. They just built a brand new really nice building for the school. This was my first time seeing it up close and from the inside

My kids knows a lot about computers. I can ask them to perform just about any action on the PC, and they will immediately know what it means and what to do. Compared to when I grew up, it is mind blowing what kids today know… the danger is to not “abuse” it I guess… I see my girls can sit in front of the computer for a very long time if I do not remind them it is time to shut it off and go do other stuff. There are also a lot of internet sites geared towards kids, virtual worlds were they get to dress up and create people and worlds… and chat with friends and none friends alike… it is worrisome to some degree, and I know a lot of parents refuse to let their kids take part in it all… my theory though, is that now, they girls will listen to me and they will show me what they are doing… I can be part of it… the internet is something they will not be able to escape, and I am thinking that now, when they are at this age, I can guide them and set some rules… in a few years they will hopefully remember the things I teach them today, when they are at the age where they won’t listen to me for dear life!
Besides, it truly is more than anything a positive thing, that they can learn so much at a young age about a tool that will follow them the rest of their lives!

Day 295/366: When it rains on the priest… it drips on the usher. Which is a Norwegian saying meaning that when the “main” guy receives blessings, so does the assistants. As Sara did when we had family over for Emma’s birthday party this Sunday. Grandma and Grandpa always brings gift for the kid that does not have a birthday also.

It is truly nice when your kids are starting to get old enough to make dinner for you before you get home! Emma have had school kitchen classes all autumn, and last time they learned how to make a vegetable soup, with chicken in it. So, she wanted to make it for us, which i of course did not turn down! She recruited her little sister as a kitchen assistant, and went at it. It was a delicious meal! Not at least because it was made and served by others!

It was my oldest daughters birthday today, she became 11 years old. Cannot believe how the years have flown by… We didn’t celebrate on the day itself, since it was mid week, but she got her gifts of course. Here she is flipping through a book I bought her about the ocean and marine life. She loves everything that has to do with the oceans and the creatures that inhabits it. She also got a movie, a French documentary about the ocean that i thought might be a bit too much for her, but she sat there with me watching the whole thing, loving it. she says she wants to be a marine biologist when she grows up, we’ll see if that will become reality. Nice goal to have though!

Time to head back to Bergen - this was shot at the same rt stop we used on the way there, at Flåm. My beautiful, oldest daughter.
Typical big sister/little sister behaviour
Typical East Norway landscape
Foggy a lot of the way
Curvy roads as we head into West Norway territory
Welcome back to the steep mountains of West Norway
